Please! I would love to have one and thank you for the effort. If it is too large to post here, PM me and we'll try e-mail. Go to the Challenger social group and take a look at the ads posted there, great stuff.

So, its Spring 2010. Any one know of a challenger 35 to 42 for sale?? Have a friend who wants one. It is wonderful to see all of these boats around the marinas.

In my looking around the internet, i found the challengers in more sizes than I know what to do with.

those wonderful magazine ads posted a while ago plus others, show challengers with lengths of----

27, 32, 35, 37, 40, 41, 45, 48, 50, and 65 with anacapa 42 and the challenger/anacapa 42 around also.

Sweet.

hullo all! jsut wanted to drop a line and put this out there. my friend and i just bought a 32' challenger 1973/4 (one manual says one thing, the FULL MANUAL says another). new to sailing, so most of what i found online means zip to me, but isnt immersion a good way to learn?! so i have the full manual for both my original palmer engine, and the 32' 'temptress'. most of the info i have on the boat is from here, or linked here otherwise. it looks like folks are hungry for a hard copy of the manual and wouldnt mind copying it and sending it out for trade....say...info and questions answered?

Re: Challenger 32 ?

Does anyone have any thoughts on the ballast to displacement ratio? It seems like it might be a little on the light side.

Re: Challenger 32 ?

Hi Gord,
Do you know the actual displacement of the Challenger 32?
Not what the specs say :-)
I seem to remember that ours weighs in around 14,000 lbs

Re: Challenger 32 ?

Just bought a Challenger 32; although it was missing a fuel tank. Anyone replace this? and if so from where/size?
Also is anyone able to post a pic of their fuel tank in position? I never saw the original and it would be helpful to see it as it was supposed to be.
Thanks guys

My boat details:
1972
Challenger 32
Hull # 31

I'm doing a ton of work on it if anyone else is doing a refit. Love to discuss the renovation...

Re: Challenger 32 ?

It's triangular shaped, wide at the top, narrow at the bottom, fits in the bilge, stainless steel, holds, I think, about 25 gallons, about 3 feet long.
email me at anacapa@kingston.net and I'll try to answers any questions you have, remind me about the rudder

Re: Challenger 32 ?

The tank, as stated above, is a triangle shape, in the bilge area under the table floor in the salon, up close to the head bulkhead, just aft of the mast step. It rose up and the top was just below the raised table floor area. At that height it went from side to side as far as possible as the bilge curved upward. From memory I would say that it was 30" long on top. As I recall it had a capacity of 37 gallons.

We removed ours as it had pin holes in the bottom which was only about three inches wide at the base. It was low enough to sit down in the water just above the keel bolts. We glassed ours with cloth and epoxy resin on the outside on all sides up about 1 1/2 feet. Never any more problems. The tank was easy to remove and replace as there is great access and room to move about and work.

I may have photos and will see if I can find them. We sold her "ORION" in 1998. She survived "KATRINA" and is still in the NO area. She was a wonderful boat, a little slow to weather, but solid.

All the best, good luck.
