Cavalier 39 - Any Thoughts ?

I have been looking for some time and feel that a Cavalier/salthouse 39(also marketed as salthouse 37 or 38) or a challenger 39 are going to fit my needs for coastal and harbour cruising with perhaps the odd dash to the pacific in a few years.

The key for me is a classic look with reasonable accommodation for 4. Easily handled by me with occasional help from wife.

6ft depth is a max.

Does anyone have any thoughts, experience with, or comments on these designs?

Finally - does anyone know of any that might be for sale or coming up for sale in my end of the earth? Picking are slim down here?

Thanks

Is this the boat (strengthened) that Kay Cottie sailed around the world?
If it was I sailed on one for a week 20years ago. Nice boat well built and sailed well.

No noelex, sorry should have been clearer. I was thinking the earlier version, the one that started the cavalier brand after the split from salthouse. Also the non pilothouse version of the challenger.

Eg.

I think Kay Cotee's was a Cavalier 37. I have a friend who bought a Cavalier 39 as his first boat. After taking some lessons, he sails it single handed up and down the east coast of Oz. The 39s have done well in races and seem to be a robust cruiser. Apparently they had different builders so it may pay to check each one carefully.

Yes sorry it was the 37 I sailed. Should have goggled it, but my internet access from the boat is very slow.

Nice boats, always wanted one until my wife insisted we get a cat. But I won't go there, happy boat hunting.
