Catalina alternatives?

I like the layout of Catalinas, even in the 31-38ft range, how they have only two cabins but they are large and with one generous wc/shower.

1) are they ok for long term and ocean crossing cruising!
2) which other manufactorers, if any, share their style preference?

I owe a Catalina, but I don't want to be involved in the conversation question 1 is likely to generate, question 2 is easy, look for "Owners Version" as a keyword.
Beneteau and Jeanneau both offer 2 cabin versions of their boats , three cabin boats more popular for charter use, 2 cabin often called "owners" version usually has a larger head and shower.

Not sure for 1), depends.
2) how about French boat, I like Elite 365, Phillipe Hale design.
They have separated 3 or more cabins even 32 and roomy.
