Catalina 310 for the Caribbean

We love the layout of the Catalina 310. I'm trying to convince my wife that by watching weather windows a 31 foot boat will be fine for the Caribbean. Has anyone else made it to the lower islands in a boat close to the Catalina 310?

Any bad reports on the Catalina 310?

I cruised for a season in the Carib with a Caliber 33 and got as far down as the Grenadines. I would be OK cruising IN the Caribe (watching weather windows as you say) on a Catalina 310. Not so sure I would want to sail TO the Caribe on one of those. But I am sure it has been done.

I sailed my Catalina 310 twice to the Abacos from Florida and encountered some rough weather both in the crossings and on the banks. My C310 performed very well but I did not get as far south as you intend. My advice is to carry extra fuel (on the fore deck) as that was a problem.
