Re: Catalina 30 vs Columbia 36

Gon2sea,
Totally, the biggest worry is a place to park it. The time for this boat in temporary at ala wai is used up already for this year, so that makes it even more difficult. I am still contemplating a couple boats under 28.5' so i can fit it in an 'a' slip at ala wai, but it would be really tight for space for a live aboard. i've heard all kinds of ideas and suggestions for places to get around it but I would if at all possible like to stay this side of the law.

Hi Don,

I just wanted to thank you for not buying Westwind (the Columbia 36). I was able to convince the sellers to finance my project boat which keeps my working capital free for the necessary repairs. Nothing too serious thus far. I will most likely be posting here shortly if anyone is interested in the progress of this great vessel.

To date, we've gotten rid of that eyesore dinghy you see in the above photos and replaced it with an 8 foot Walker Bay. We moved Westwind to Waianae Small Boat Harbor and have started cleaning her up a bit. I won't be ready for a haul out until October, so we're just focusing on the interior at this point. Engine runs great and we've had her out sailing 3 times in winds up to 25mph. So I was pleasantly surprised as to how well she's handled herself thus far.

Best Regards,

Mako Kidd

Join in on the Columbia Yacht group on yahoo groups. You will talk to many C36 owners and even ask question to Capt'n Paul Esterle. WEALTH of info there and great folks. Congrats on becoming a Columbia Family Member.
