Catalina 30 Davit options out there?

We are looking to buy a Catalina 30 soon (About 1995'ish for step down Transom). We want dinghy davits and see some boats with, and without, davits.

Has anybody priced or installed Dinghy Davits on a Catalina 30? Where did you get them? Any issues?

We are in Eastern NC but just looking for gotcha's or any thoughts.

Thanks.

Hi Scooter.. Welcome to CF.
Depends on the type of dinghy.. a light inflatable fine.. but a heavy RIB and outboard hanging off the back would affect your boats performance/seaworthiness adversely.. also depends on your cruising.. if lakes and estuaries no big deal but if you venture offshore.. but that's just my opinion.
Others may feel differently..

Inflatable dinghy. Looking to make boat as self sufficent as possible. Eventually Solar and maybe Wind Generator, etc.. Davits have their down side but Looks like cost will be about $1500-2000 installed (New). Just working out budget for new boat prices with davits included or not.

Thanks for the replies.

Dinghy tow looks interesting but how is it in rough seas? What's the biggest blow you had it in?

The fabricated SS universal ones would be good for that boat and light weight. A couple places advertise in the back of the common sailing magazines... forget their names. Kato marine? As mentioned you will have to use a lightweight dingy and take the motor off the dingy on that size boat..Still... they are very handy. I would suggest an air floor dingy maybe 9ft max.
