Re: Cashed in all of our Kharma points

boats arent usually 'on the market' til they've been advertised for a good while - i watched my present boat for over a year til the advertised price started dropping - up to that point the guy just didnt want to sell it - i thought he was going to cry when i handed over the cheque. I enjoyed your story though, and i can relate to the seller wanting it to go to a good home - i despair for some of my previous boats which i have had to watch fall into grievous neglect after i sold them.

Welcome to the Valiant family. You got a smokin' great deal that's for sure!

Be sure to join the Valiant Owner's Group on Yahoo. It's a great resource and fairly active.

You're gonna love her. My one piece of advice is to not jump in making tons of changes. Only do what is absolutely necessary in the short term, as your view on what she needs will likely change over time as you get to know her.

This is great advice for any new boat owner. There will be a list of obvious upgrades, but there are things that seem goofy at first that you will come to appreciate over time.

Congrats!! Don't worry about the karma debt. My guess is you had plenty (of good karma) in the bank and that's why you got your amazing deal. It was just waiting for you.
Fair winds always....

Re: Cashed in all of our Kharma points

I think only California and Florida license boat brokerages. So your fine owner who sounds like a sailor ought to always be can't even file a formal complaint. But, even though the unscrupulous trouble us all, Karma always wins in the end.

Didn't see any mention of a survey as part of your purchase process...did you have her checked out? Cheap boats are often cheap for a reason.

Most likely the local suveyor is a nephiew of the broker in question and besides, paid surveys are for landlubbers
