Re: Carter Passage 33

I don't think it can be "exactly the same lines".
It may have similar lines but cetianly not "exactly the same".
With all that shape in that old IOR hull there is just no space to insert an extra 3' of LOA.

OK Bob... I'll grant you but.... if you put up a picture of a 30 and a 33 side by side the only way you'll spot the difference is by the portholes....
Having owned a 30 and spent a winter with a 33 two berths down... its like a wool sweater washed too hot... exact copy.. just shrunk a bit...

Thanks Bob,

Yes, she has very pretty lines.

The inside is huge for a 33 footer.

If any one wants to see a 30 footer or even an Australian 33' aft cokpit, probably the best way would be to ceck out www.boatpoint.com.au and type in Carter.

Cheers

Carter 30

For those wanting to see a Carter 30, here is my little boat at Sydney Fish Markets. Sadly I do not know the full history of the boat but pretty sure it was built in Sydney

Re: Carter Passage 33

Hi - here are a few shots of my one. I believe that the Carter Passage 33 is the same as the Carter 33 built by olympic yachts etc - just a different deck lay out.

Very good reputation, fast enough to have a good time in club races and like any IOR yacht, a big gut making her comfortable below decks. The rear cabin is a treat (if you're into that and happy with a centre cockpit).

Regards,

Fast Forward.

Re: Carter Passage 33

Hi all,
I own a Storebro Royal 33 which is a redesign of Carter 33. She is built in 1979 at the warf Storebro in Sweden (famous for their very luxury motor yachts). The Storebro Royal 33 is regarded as a high quality construction and a good sailor. Please follow this link for images: storebro royal 33 - Google Search

Length: 10,08 meters, beam: 3,40 meters

All the best
Rolf

Could you post a pic of the boat. I find it odd that I don't recognize the name after being there a year.

Dear Bob, excuse my poor English. I live in Italy and at Lerici I found a boat that was built in Greece in 1982 (?), a Carter 40. I like it but the boat has osmosis . Let me know what you think about this type of boat and if you think about spend € 10,000 for an antiosmosis treatment . I attach a photograph.

I'm curious...

I have a Carter designed boat that was built by Mariner yachts in Sydney. I've been trying to figure out where Mariner got the moulds to see if they are the same hull as the ones built by Olympic in Greece.

So I did some measuring of my boat yesterday and it turns out the rig dimensions are an exact match for the Carter 3/4 ton design which also happens to be 10m (33'). So I have the feeling that the Australian built ones (at least the ones built by Mariner) were built to the later, heavier design.

I'd be interested to know what the J measurement is for the Carter Passage 33 built in Australia to see if it matches the J measurement for mine. If they are the same then it might suggest that perhaps they used the same hull moulds with a different deck mould...

Cheers,
Dan
