Can't Get To The Boat- Need Info

I am in Midland, Tx. Need to move my Bristol30 from Ct to Annapolis, Md. I'll use Uship. However, they want the height, weight and width of my boat. Ok. I have the weight, the beam is 9' but what is the total outside width? I also need an approx height from keel to end of topsides. Does anyone have a 30' that would be able to give me the approx measurements for these? You would save my day!

I think they need the height from keel to highest deck/pulpit etc right? (overpasses)

Here is some info from the Bristol web page that you might not already have. The beam is 9'1". If your boat is a centerboard model its draft is 3'4" and if fixed keel it is 4'6" so in either case the height from keel to cabin top should, I think, be less than 9' which should be close enough for your trucking company. If there are pulpits rails stanchions above the cabin top they may need to be removed or measured in addition. I'd guess another 3 ft but that is a guess. Be sure to put in writing that they should verify all measurements for your boat once it is loaded to avoid any road hazards.

If I may be so bold as to ask, why not have someone sail it down, weather is getting nicer and its a great 3 or 4 day adventure. I would think a pro captain would do it for $1000 or less?

If I splash it in Ct. the mast has to be re-stepped and I really wanted to check cleats, wiring etc down in Annapolis before I re-stepped the mast. So my thinking was just have it shipped and splashed and start the work from there. Does that make sense?

Yes, I have this info. Gives weight and beam but not outside measurements for width or height from keel to topside. Mucho thanks though.

Just what I needed, thanks. I guesstimated 10' for height of keel to top, I have the weight, now i just need outside width. Think I'll be alright with a guesstimate of 12'?

I think the beam of 9'1" is the widest dimension.

U ship is shitt. If you haven't already forked over any cash to the crooks I suggest you just look for a real shipping company that actually ships stuff and not just a internet middle man sucking cash from all parties involved. Their interests are served as soon as they get your credit card number.

I would be very careful using U Ship they do not have the best reputation.
Last year I shipped my 38ft Caliber from Green Cove Springs FL to Erie PA. I used US Boat Haulers. I found Ernst to be very caring in moving my sailboat safely. He arrived in time to load the boat and delivered at the stated time. Very fair pricing I would use them again.

I used u-ship to move our boat. Big mistake. The winning bidder arrived a day late for pickup, then the driver had no idea how to load a sailboat onto the trailer. I loaded my own boat, set the stands, etc, then made sure the driver accepted responsibility for the load. I was a nervous wreck for the next three days.

it is alot more than 3-4 days from texas to annapolis try 10-12 and that would b in good weather the whole time

As previously suggested, water-borne transport would be easy, and probably way less expensive. If the boat is sailable. Plenty of pros on the East Coast. If you can't readily find any, try contacting some yacht brokers in CT or Annapolis for referrals. Good luck.
