Can anyone ID this boat?

I am looking to buy this boat but the owner gained it through a charity auction and knows NOTHING about sailboats. Before I make the trip I would like to find out more about it. Any ideas what kind of boat it is? All I know is it is 38 foot (and I am not sure where he got that number from)

Re: Can anyone ID this boat?

I don't have a clue about what it is but before you make a movement to buy the boat confirm that the person is the legitimate owner. Do as much research as you can before you spend money. Ask the individual for the registration numbers or Coast Guard documentation numbers.
A marine survey is not a bad idea on a boat that size. That way you know what you'll be getting into for maintenance.
kind regards,

Thumbs up Re: Can anyone ID this boat?

I fully intend to but before I go look-see I want to have as much information as I can on what it is SUPPOSED to be. Thanks for the advice!

Re: Can anyone ID this boat?

I think a giveaway would be the ports in the hull but I'm not familiar with any boats that have that feature plus the pilothouse.
Sorry I can't help.

pirate Re: Can anyone ID this boat?

She looks like an Endurance to me... many were home build and the hull ports were an option some fitted... others not..

Re: Can anyone ID this boat?

Ask the owner to give you the Hull ID number (HIN), which should be impressed into the upper right side of the transom. Here's a link about the HIN: Hull ID Numbers - BoatSafe.com

Then look up the manufacturer in the Manufacturer ID database.
