This is the Swan Company history file for all their out of production boats. Interesting, if you don't already know about it, to compare lines and interiors. http://www.nautorgroup.com/main.asp

Thanks Kai and Peter:

I have a slow connection and haven't been able to get into the swan site. I'm trying again. I'll have a look at the C&C but have the feeling that the admiral wants to keep the fleet a Swan. It has worked for us in cars to go with a Mercedes (1987) rather than buy a new car b/c we were able to get parts for it and keep the car running. It still feels more solid than most the new cars in that price range. It may have 250k miles on it but it starts every morning and keeps running. We do have to spend money on it to keep it in repair but that is still cheaper than a monthly car payment.

you might try speaking with Marty at Osmotech in Annapolis, a world cruising sailor he specializes in the refurbishment of Swans, and has sailed all of them over the years, certainly on the East Coast USA he IS the man.
I dont know the tel. number, but it cant be too hard to find

I dont think it will matter if it is a swan or whatever in an older boat, what matters is condition. I met a couple on the docks once who had just delivered a swan about that size from Hawaii to Seattle, they were removing everything from the boat, it pretty much leaked everywhere on deck and the whole interior was wet. There comments were "never again in one of these..." Not sure what that means. They are pretty much a fin keeled boat right? A rich man's J boat? Will a mercedes last longer than a toyota? I dont think so.... Are you sure it isnt just the size that your wife likes rather than the Swan? She ought to love a Passport etc....

You might want to give these guys a call. They're in Jamestown, RI and specialize in Swans. They aren't cheap, but they might give you an idea of what it would take to modify a Swan 41 for short-handed cruising.
