cal 28 leaning on keel at low tide - damage?

Hello,

I have a cal 28. In the spot we're in, at low tide of the month, it was leaning while still attached to the mooring buoy. That time is coming up again. Is it harmful to the boat to be leaning, with the weight on the keel? From the specs I've seen online, it looks like the keel is only partially lead, at the front.

CAL 28 Sailboat details on sailboatdata.com

thanks

Many boats can safely 'take the ground' and your's looks like one of them. In the UK where the tides are considerable marinas have drying pads where you can tie against a wall and work on the bottom when the tide is out.

When I anchor in Biscayne Bay I am often aground at low tide.

Sand or mud should be no problem. Big rocks on the bottom would ve. If the waters clear enough, swim around and check the bottom.

The lake where my boats tied up at has the problem with W to NW winds blow the water into Galveston Bsy and the lake gets really low. My boat ends up with keel completely buried in mud. Depth finder reads zero, took boat hook and had 2' of water admidships.

No problem.
Unicornís avatar photo shows his boat sitting on the keel.
Those hard-stands donít take the boatís weight; but just offer balance (as would your buoyancy in the water).

thanks folks.

Wow s/v Moondancer that's quite a picture - when the tide comes back in, is there not a risk of hitting the rock wall?
