Bristol 27 HIN Question

Hello all,

My beautiful bride and I recently purchased a 1975 Bristol 27 in North Florida. In researching hull numbers to determine what number mine is, the general consensus is that Bristol built less than 340 of these boats during the entire production line. I know the trick to check the hull number using the HIN, (BTY is Bristol Yachts, next 2 numbers are length, next 3 are hull number, and last 4 are month and year of production) however using this theory my hull was the 363rd built. Anyone know the starting # of the Bristol 27 line? If it was 001, why do I have a high serial number?

Re: Bristol 27 HIN Question

I read someplace that there may have been 400 built. Mine is a 1974; hull number 335.

I'll try and find that article. In the mean time, you can visit Bristol27.com and check on numbers listed there.

Here it is. It's a really good review of the boat also. The more I sail the thing the more I like it.............

Also, highest number on the owners page that I saw was hull number 393.

Re: Bristol 27 HIN Question

Not every number that was reserved is necessarily built. It's not uncommon for a few early boats to be reserved for the company or deposits paid but not actually built.
