Bought a Boat Today...

Very exciting day today... Paid the deposit on a 2009 Jeanneau 45DS.

Hope to complete purchase by early March. 6 weeks for trials, upgrades and repairs and set sail from Plymouth, UK early May for a dash accross Biscay and then a long summer in the Med.

Its been a very long wait!

Thanks to everyone here for patient advice.

Mark n Sam

Very cool. Actually chartered one of those in the Grenadines in 2010. Fun boat. Make sure you buy fans for the aft cabins though.

Re: Bought a Boat Today...

Mark and Sam I just spotted this after replying to your earlier post about draft concerns. I guess you went away from the Hanse. Congrats on the Jeanneau 45DS. We'll be around the central Med this season on our 43DS. Keep an eye out for us.

PS. We crossed Biscay last May and had a great trip. Hope yours goes well too.

Cheers

Thanks all, especially Alcheringa for the generous offline advice! The final decision of Hanse Vs Jenneau came down to actual boats spec, sail pattern and the deal available + location. The Jenneau is in Plymouth so it's a lot easier and safer ( English law, surveyor, broker etc) to buy.
I attended the survey on Monday and she is an absolute peach!
Couldn't be more excited...
She is now on the hard standing at QAB in Plymouth till 29 March so that I can throw some money at her with lots of new shiney stuff before we move in. Happy days!
