Boatyard on FL east coast

Hi There, I have a friend that is looking to bring his Swan 44 to the east coast of FL for some work. He needs a yard that can spot an A/C unit on his vessel with a small crane while the boat is still in the water and he would be able to bring his truck near the vessel to put supplies on, and at some point will be looking to haul the boat as well if possible. The Swan draws about 6'. Anyone that can help with info. would be greatly appreciated.

The east coast of Florida is around 400 miles long. Could you at least narrow it down to the north, central, or southern part?
If the northern part, try Green Cove Springs.
Must be one huge A/C.

Re: Boatyard on FL east coast

Thanks for the come back, the A/C unit is not all that big, but they don't want to manhandle it on to the boat. Coming in from the Caribbean, the further south would be the easiest, but they have the ability of going anywhere on the coast to get to a yard that meets their needs. They also need to be able to do some of their own work on the boat.

Boatyard on FL east coast

Playboy marine. Very inexpensive DIY yard with plenty of contractors. They're in Ft Lauderdale.

Norseman Yacht Yard on the Miami River. (305) 545-6815 ask for Rick Heron, the owner. I always go to there and am always happy with their work. Plus the billing is fair and as estimated.

Re: Boatyard on FL east coast

It sounds like southern Fl would fit your needs better, but at the very northern tip of the state is Tiger Point Marina. They can handle just about any job and and are great to work with. 50 ton lift, plenty of water coming in, etc. Very nice place at a reasonable price.

In Central Florida on the ICW is Westland Marina. It's a do-it yourself yard, great location and awesome protection. It's directly across from Cape Canaveral so you can see rocket launches from time to time. The slip fees are the same as on the hard......around $8.00/ft. Rick is the yard manager. Lot's of nearby resources.

Re: Boatyard on FL east coast

I second Westland. You can work on your own boat, stay aboard in the hard, and don't have to buy materials from them.

Rick is a good yard manager.

Seminole boat yard in Palm Beach Gardens. They swapped a generator for me while in the water. The crane can reach right out from the bulkhead. Highly recommended.
