Re: Boats Less Than $30K Recent Noteworthy Finds

I know nothing about Seidelmanns and the owner's forum page seems to be down. Owners seem to like them and reviewers seem to pan them.
Anybody here with experience on the 37?

Re: Boats Less Than $30K Recent Noteworthy Finds

During my travels south I’ve come across three Tayana 37’s. One in Rockland, ME, $10k, definite project boat, but looked solid. The other two are in Reedville, VA. Tucked way back in the back corner of the yard. Both 1978, bowsprits are shot, didn’t go inside these two, so I have no idea on the interior condition. The yard manager said the yard owns these and would like to see them gone. Didn’t ask for a $ value, but I’m sure they could be had for cheap money. Anyone looking for a solid cruising boat that doesn’t mind spending the cash for a refurb, here you go.... send me a PM if you are interested. I have no no vested interest in these boats selling other than I hate seeing them sitting and rotting away.

Cheoy Lee 28 - $5k

Seems like a deal for someone:

Also a Mercator 30. Saw one of these yesterday, nice looking boat. But this looks like an earlier version with a wood cabin top, so may not be worth anything.

Why the heck didn't they spend an hour cleaning up the cabin and taking a better picture?
Or maybe they think that is "staging ".[emoji38]

1975 Downeast Downeaster 38'
US$ 16,000*
(broker in San Diego, CA)
(Boat in Cabo, Baja)
Just spoke with the broker. The boat is operational and on the water.
Sounds like nothing major. Offer on 14K will be accepted.
What concerns me the boat owner not really made his due homework to make good pictures and not provided the boat details. Traveling to Cabo to find out the boat barely floating and has major problems is kind of .... premature on this moment.
I asked broker to find out more details and TIP status.

Interesting indeed. If I were in the market that would get my attention.

Spoke with the broker again. The TIP is currently open by present owner.
The boat is operational and she is on the water.
I might pass on it since I was not able to obtain any details on the boat condition or other technical details nor I was able to solicit the broker to have direct conversation with the boat owner to chat about her.
It is hard to justify to travel to see one boat without any solid info in hands. It might be good boat or not.. Lottery..

Re: Boats Less Than $30K Recent Noteworthy Finds

Recently been looking for a boat for cruising and saw two Allied Seabreeze 35s. One is in Yarmouth Port, MA and the other is in Rockland Maine. Both are on Yachtworld.

Both need work. Mostly a serious scrubbing followed by some repairs I would consider normal for a late 1960s build. The pictures represent the boats before storage. Both brokers are very good guys.
