The boats in this mag all have great headroom! I can't afford any of them!

I'm 6'4" and I have found that a Mason 44 has lot's of headroom. I think ~7'. Also, it appears it will take one anywhere they want to go.

You are getting plently of information on headroom, and clearly state your need for a high galley. When looking at your shortlist, you may want to put as much emphasis on the length of berths, height of shower, etc.

Twould be a great shame to have to sleep on the floor ...

Im 6ft8 let me know!!!

Hi Im 6ft8 and am looking for a singlehand cruiser and have not found one.
I got the same problem and it sucks because im almost forced to rob a bank in order to pay for an expensive boat. But my desire to go cruising for a year will not be stopped by those extra inches (lol). anyway I cannot be of a lot of help now but if i find one I'll let you know and hopefully you can do the same. Just wanted to let you know that you are not the only one.

Good luck

Welcome to the forum. I have no idea what boat will give you 7' headroom. However, if you buy a boat that you like that is close to 6'1'' or 6'4". You can modify it with a pilothouse or higher deck cabin. The glass work is not hard but you do want a professional marine shipwright to do it. It would be a shame to hold off on your dreams if you can get a boat for $ 5000.00 less then you want to pay and put the $ 5000.00 into a new cabin top.

I wouldn't think it would cost you much more then that unless you are looking at $ 100,000.00 boats.

Here is a link to a pilothouse 30 footer,

How much time are you going to spend standing up inside the boat? I am also tall and just tilt my head down when walking - when I stand in one place (gallie)I open my legs to make me shorter, if your only looking at cruising a year - dont worry about it- not that many years ago many yachts had less head room and people just ducked a little more-
