Boat Lust - Is This a Sin?

I've only had my boat for 4 months and already find myself lusting after others. Is this a deadly sin?

Yes the other boats are prettier, younger, and maybe tighter with thier sleek curves. But hey my current one is old and proven! I could spend alot of extra cash on the new lust keeping it happy enough to allow me to ride it. But of course in time it is going to get ugly, older, and start to sag to point that I go lusting for another again. Or I could spend less and just get the one I have now face lifted and prettied up, but it would still know what it is and wouldn't mind an old worn out guy riding it.

Oh what to do

Every time a bunch of cruisers got together, the 'Next Boat' topic always came up. All boats are compromises and all of us like to dream what would be our favorite compromise. No, lusting after other boats is not a sin, it's normal.

It's amazing.... while I have my current boat, I feel like I know exactly what my new wishes are and what things I want on it. Then when it comes down to really deciding... well... it's the same decisions/compromises every time! The one thing I hope to someday get straight is never, ever, ever think doing that list of obvious things is going to be easy!. Buy one as ready to sail as possible, even at a $ penalty, and sail!! (unless of course what you really want to be is a boat mechanic)

Here's the whole boat porn link and yes, it's definitely a sin. 195,000 Euros a week. That being said, it'll do things your current boat won't do...

If my boat smells that boat on my clothes I'm going to have to sleep out on the deck tonight!

The Maltese Falcon sold for only 100m with an asking price of 180m. Mines for sale for alot less.

We try to never talk about a newer or bigger boat while on Tivoli, and if we do we are careful to let her know she is the boat for us. No sense tempting fate... remember Steve Kings "Christine".
