boat for sale advice

I'm selling my cruising boat of 20 years and could use a hand with this site as to posting rules etc. Don't laugh. Every site seems to have different rules which make it hard to write an ad. For instance, is it ok to just have a link in the ad to another site? And which sites seem to have the most traffic and therefore the most exposure? Would it be best to post pics with the ad or have them on a flickr type site? And can I put a link here to the pics? Anyway, you get the point. Any help much appreciated. BTW, it's a CS36t.

Re: boat for sale advice

Wise questions jebermi. When I put our First 375 up for sale I looked for some guidance here but didn't find it for whatever reason--very likely blonde syndrome. I was very cautious about what I included and intentionally did not include the price but did include the link to the yacht world.com link. I got a nice message from a mod asking why I'd post a 'for sale' without a price, which sort of annoyed me as I'd been so careful not to step on any toes.

Anyhow, I note Coops' link above is dated after I had posted our boat so perhaps they realized some guidance is required.

Good luck with your sale, and welcome to the crew here on CF.

Re: boat for sale advice

Thanks prairie chicken. I guess if it's not forbidden, then it's ok! I'll just proceed and see what happens. They didn't strike your ad due to the yachtworld link. That's telling. Thing is, I'd like to write one ad and copy and paste it everywhere but that's easier said than done. Like everything I do on this damn computer, it's going to be a while. Ok, done with whine, start on wine.

Re: boat for sale advice

You did not read this bit in there perhaps then

"Do not post an ad in the Classified Ads Forum that directs readers to another sale site where you are also offering the item(s), such as eBay or Craigslist. Hyperlinks to off-site ads will be deleted without notice."
