Blue-water cruiser (Sleeping 3-5)

New to this forum, but lets get straight to business:

What should I look for that can sleep 3-5 crew and is considered a blue-water cruiser (including slight modifications / strengthening)

Price range (10 - 20 k)
There is no rush to answer this question as the trip is planned a couple years from now.

We have all been keeping our eyes out on various forums / reading up on relevant material and Pearson 35' is at the top of our list currently.

Anything else we should look out for? Any help appreciated!

An older Morgan 41 will do the job but you will need to put $ into it at that price. Also a Columbia 41 or Gulfstar 41 is near your asking price. Maybe a little bit more. You get what you pay for.
