Semi classic then .

PS The yellow tape you see on the table was securing the protective cover that we lifted. We forgot to replace the cover . Sorry Rinaldo .

Re: Bestevaer 49ST

Wottie, would you call this a classic or semi classic bench?

The rim will hold a thick seat. It is a very similar design to all the other benches on Bestevaers with a traditional interior and will slot in neatly between the table legs.

Well I was going to say CLASSIC; especially as the clamps have red handles but then I spied the black electronic thingy so right now, I'm not sure; let's say the jury is out deliberating the black box.

Perhaps it was a leftover from a Doctor Who shoot...

I have to take a break from looking at the interior fit out... Visually my amaze gland has overloaded and Im trembling from excitement...

Classic, Semi-classic... who cares! its a great product and being of an eclectic nature, Im in love with it....

Imagine what this interior would look like in a multi....

Perhaps it's a limpet mine? That is our boat at the far left. A little too close to that thingy for my liking .

When I stepped on board last time, the first thing I said was that it has a "catamaran like" feel inside. The main saloon/galley living space is dramatically wider than it is longer, giving me this impression. Plus, while seated we have panoramic 360° views. I love that in multis .

Re: Bestevaer 49ST

For any other lovers of woodwork, here are the solid Bubinga steps for the pilothouse.

Yes, we had lots to drool over on Friday .

These are about 900mm wide, as the gap between the seats has been made wide enough to enable engine removal if required (we also have a lifting point in the ceiling for this). The engine has access from 4 sides, so these steps will be removable:

Re: Bestevaer 49ST

A boat is a boat is a boat. We choose what we like.
This is a design that I as a lover of the sea and the vessels on them could be happy with.

I PREFER the motion and space of a multi, that is my preference..I prefer not to travel on the lean for long periods, however if a mono is all there is, then I want this one..

For some reason the front hull shape reminds me of the submarine of the Nautilus vessel in the film,The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen with Sean Connery..

Re: Bestevaer 49ST

Most of the Bestevaers produced to date have been custom built, so the owners have decided on the finish. I was admiring the boat behind ours and thought I would post a couple of photos to contrast the choices owners make.

This big sister to ours is stunningly beautiful with a teak deck and traditional timber finish. It does showcase what the yard is capable of (see below).

Our boat is the polar opposite. Our brief was for a strong, leak proof Bestevaer with minimal maintenance. This translated to no external timber, as little paint as we could get away with, plus no fittings that were drilled through the deck in the living spaces. This has been achieved so well . The only bit of timber is a tiny bit at the top of the comanionway hatch. Apart from the Refleks chimney, we have no penetrations through the deck.

We have also ended up with absolutely minimal plastic, apart from some of the smaller blocks and nav lights etc, which pleases us as well.

This is how our deck looks. Very utilitarian, but I find beauty in the purposeful, "work boat" type finish. There is no right or wrong here, this is just an example of very different personal preferences:

Some features seen:

Welded tracks for staysail and yankee
Swan neck
High bulwarks
Twin bollards (4 of the 8)
Raised hatches
Padeyes around each hatch to allow for wind scoops etc
Holes in the bulwark that will make strong attachment points
Recess for the Refleks chimney
Handrail along cabin top

Note: Stanchions are just a temporary barrier
Paint is only the base layer, non skid to come

Gorgeosity!!

I'm glad I'm not choosing between those two looks -- each extremely appealing in its own way. Die Qual der Wahl!

When is the launch date?
