Not a huge fan of the flat front cabinets. Looks too much like a normal mass produced boat.

Matt
This is a "production" boat, as I understand it. It keeps the cost substantially lower than their custom versions, while having a similar hull build quality.

This is what KM have to say about Pure:

"Normally, KMY yachts are fully custom-built with every detail according to the owner's wishes. The PURE will be more of a production yacht and aspects such as dimensions, deck plan, the hull, layout and styling are fixed. The owner still has influence over the final version, but not as much as for a custom-built yacht. The Pure philosophy is that it must remain a safe, seagoing and comfortable yacht, just like its custom-built siblings, but in a pared down version, without for example 3 toilet compartments, air conditioners, dishwashers or an expensive teak deck. The name really says it all….."

Re: Bestevaer 49ST

The next major step will be welding on the cabin top and pilothouse top.

Work on this initially started upside down as well (see earlier photos), but this too has now been flipped. It is still at at the rough stage.

The pilothouse itself is about 3m long:

Hi Weav

I snapped a shot of the screen for you today. I was using this model today to try and sort out what to do with the pilothouse steps. They need a bit of work and it is complicated by the fact that the central portion of the front steps needs to be removed for full access to the front of the engine via a watertight panel and there are two floor to ceiling SS poles in the way.

Various walls and components have been peeled away (eg a shower and head are located either side of the entry to the owners' cabin) in the process of getting a better view of those steps.

This is what they call the "box" stage. Not many details are in, as the basic arrangement needs to be approved first. I rotated it around so you can see the view from the pilothouse looking down:

Re: Bestevaer 49ST

Its a funny thing.

Although my boats have all been in the main, GRP with a couple of wood thrown in, I always wanted a metal boat. I never got one because of the weight or rust issues, nothing worse than seeing a brown streaked vessel.

Aluminium fills that void. Somehow, no matter how much I know 'plastic' is strong and safe and tough, metal instinctively feels right, just like wood feels right even though is a pain in the patouche to upkeep.

I was going to recommend it to you when you were thinking of building ... but was not sure if you wanted to or had the need of a 3d program.

That basically was why I asked if you had examples of the CAD drawings.

Makes life a lot easier.

and fun.

Re: Bestevaer 49ST

More photos have arrived. It was a perfect thing to find coming off my watch this morning .

The pilothouse and cabin top have been lifted onto the hull. This was the start of the process:

There are a myriad of additions that we can see, that I will point out in the following photos.

These may be a bit slow in coming, as we have just settled down after an overnight passage and a sleep deprived prior night. For those who haven't tasted the cruising life, living at the mercy of the elements is hard to describe. Suffice to say every fibre of your being feels alive .
In the last couple of days we have experienced two severe thunderstorms with 50+ knot winds, once in the throws of anchoring the night before last and once barely ten minutes after setting the hook an hour ago. The heavens opened with 50mm (2") of rain in two hours in the first instance, and now we are being pelted with deafening hail, as well as wipe out conditions with rain. Autumn has arrived with a vengeance in the Med!

This is a snapshot taken from our companionway at anchor just now. No time to be wondering if "bigger is best" when it comes to anchors. Certainly no time to be thinking of laying two anchors if one is inadequate when this unexpectedly hits and you have a lee shore:

We are relaxing after showers with the first drink in hand for a few days, so more photos may be a bit slow in coming .

Wow! The framing looks crazy strong for the deck and cabin top. What size is the deck/ cabin plating? As always, it looks beautiful.

Re: Bestevaer 49ST

The new boat continues to look beautiful and strong. The photos of your current boat anchored in the thunder storm makes one appreciate all the good information you and Noelex have provided in the anchor photos thread. I assume you didn't jump right in during that weather to get photos of your anchor set, or did you?
