Hey! I quothed myself! Does that make me quote worthy?

Last Friday, 7/31/2015, the Dashew's started a sale, I almost said "sail", on all four of their books for $60. All four books were $300 including shipping. The smaller books were $70 and the encyclopedia was $90. This is a really good price to say the least. Two of the books, one on storm tactics and the other on the weather are free ebooks but I wanted the hard back versions as well.

The Dashews are selling out the stock and they are not going to do a reprint.

The big bummer is that they will not ship overseas.

Done! Hopefully my set will be on the way soon. Thanks for the heads up Olaf, and Dan, and thanks Mat for offering to forward them for me, very considerate of you. I ended up using Shopmate. Hopefully it will arrive! these postal forwarding services look like a useful thing for cruisers.

Thanks for posting. I figured there HAD to be a way to order something in the US and have it sent overseas.

Welcome.

I ordered the books at the start of this week and they arrived today which is rather fast.

Later,

Just received my copies today. the freight was expensive, $80 aud, but well worth it. the Cruising Encyclopaedia is exceptionally detailed and technical.

You forget just how much better a really good technical book can be than all the free info on the web.

Re: Bestevaer 49ST

Exciting news here is that we signed the contract to build early December and the aluminium has arrived at KM, so welding will start shortly .

Having the specifications and plans drafted has been a slow process, but a huge part of the task in commissioning a new boat is nailing down the details. The original specs we had presented to the yard in September 2014 more than doubled in length by the time the document was finalised November 2015.

Many thanks to everyone for their input on this thread. Probably the most significant change we made after reading replies was to go with a deck stepped mast again.

This was part of Friday's delivery. It will be a bit like a jigsaw puzzle connecting these pieces. Ours are the pieces in the foreground, not the boat in the background :

I saw this beautiful work of art slipping past our marina a week ago. Lovely! A great choice.

Re: Bestevaer 49ST

We had a good look when she was tied up in town.

Spotted the mast from blocks away.
