Re: Best Pilothouse Sailboat?

If my extremely rich uncle ever leaves me a fortune I'd have a Southern Fisher 37 in a heart beat. Fisher 37 - Introduction

I'm hoping to upgrade from my jeanneau 29.2 to an older Southerly 105, with a view to doing the Rhine/Danube and back to Black Sea
All Southerlies I have been on were RS, not PH. All new ones are RS.

If you are into a small boat of this sort there is an older Hunter too.

I saw a Pearson 30 Pilothouse. Not a real beauty but I could stand it. Anyone been aboard or better, sailed one?

Great boats, but that particular one needs about 50K minimum in glass work. It has a bad case of blisters above and below the water line.

Re: Best Pilothouse Sailboat?

The prettiest pilothouse I ever stepped foot in was this Cabo Rico 47' pilothouse at the Annapolis sailboat show several years ago. Amazing boat.

The settee has a lift mechanism that opens up to a workshop below.

CR also makes a 42 and 38 versions of their cutters.

A little less available than the Cal PH, try the Westerly Konsort Duo - Yes, there is actually 1 for sale, worldwide.

Nobody thinks through a pilothouse like Jack Giles did despite the open availability of his examples. The current exception might be Sirius but its back to the lottery ticket there.

I find the discussion intriguing and I have always admired the NautiCats, but which years are the Stephens designs?

Re: Best Pilothouse Sailboat?

i still think the hottest and sexiest pilot house boats are formosa 51, ct54 , force 50, vagabond 47,and their ilk....but i am only slightly prejudiced, sailing a 41 formosa..........

It's model numbers more than years. I've posted a list somewhere on the forum before. Do a search. The most common source of confusion is the 43 and 44; 43 is S&S, 44 is decidedly not. Very different boats.
