Best Bang for your Buck

I would like the opinion of some of you old salts. I've got $40K to spend on a boat. I would use it for coastal cruising and an occassional hop over to the Bahamas. What is the best bang for your buck in your opinion. I know it's not much, but that's all there is at the moment.

best bang for the buck to do what you are asking about will be a used hunter or catalina. Tons of selection, lots of room, etc.....

Something smaller. Right around 30-33 feet. Don't feel like you have to have a 40 footer.

Morgain OI36. Biggest 36' boat I ever saw. Draft 3'2" so you can get into places in the Bahamas even a cat can't fit. Doesn't sail upwind but pretty well built and good boat for the money.
