The holding ground on the Texas coast is a black slimy mud, it will form to the chain links and grease the whole works. Unless you've got a windlass, I'd go with a line rode. There isn't much to chafe the line around here, and a chain leader should be sufficient.

A danforth works well here as do any of the Bruce or Bruce copies.
