Beneteau Oceanis 45 & Outboards

I know the manual says that the OEM outboard mount is good for about 50 pounds. What do you have mounted there, and how much weight is it bearing in real life? Any modifications? Have you added a lift?

You mean outboard engine?
if yes just 5 hp Suzuki 23kgs what gives almost 50pounds.
6hp has this same weight. All other engines are similar in weight. For 2,7m dinghy is enough .

I do not have an O-45, however, examining the photos of the mount, and its position between the vertical supports and the relatively narrow span of the rails between verticals, the mount would appear to be able to support somewhat more than 50# with much difficulty although much more might require a fore'n aft oriented diagonal support to the vertical post nearer the transom platform. As a practical matter most any engine of 50# or more is better handled with a crane lift such as the Forespar Nova Lift, which could be fairly easily installed on that yacht.

FWIW...

That's what I am looking to do. Do you haul it up there yourself or did you install a crane lift? THANKS!
