Beneteau Oceanis 40 Holding Tank Question
Hi there,
I recently replaced the waste pipe from the holding tank to the hull fitting, (a really shitty job). While doing so I noticed there were three pipes at the top of the tank. One goes directly up to the deck, the other to the WC and the 3rd... I have no idea what it is for.
The 4th pipe is the one I replaced which is on the bottom of the tank.
Does anyone know what the extra inlet pipe is for? I have the 2 cabin version with only 1 head.

Re: Beneteau Oceanis 40 Holding Tank Question
I don't think it is a vent. It is the same size as the WC waste pipe and seems to head down behind the tank.

Re: Beneteau Oceanis 40 Holding Tank Question
There must be a vent hose to the tank or you could not flush the head. Some folks increase the hose size to eliminate odour from bacteria. Just a thought, good luck

Re: Beneteau Oceanis 40 Holding Tank Question
Normally on Beneteau, toilet to y valve. Y valve to overboard through hull Y valve to top of holding tank. Top of holding tank to deck pumpout fitting. Bottom of holding tank to macerator pump to through hull overboard discharge.

Is it a Vacu Flush? that could be the pipe going to the vac pump

Re: Beneteau Oceanis 40 Holding Tank Question
On my Jeanneau, instead of a y-valve, there is a second dip tube outlet from the tank to a diaphram pump for overboard discharge (now plugged). You may even have something which looks like a second bilge pump, but isnt.

Re: Beneteau Oceanis 40 Holding Tank Question
The hose3 coming from the bottom of the tank goes directly to a throughull for overboard discharge ... standard feature on Beneteaus.

Re: Beneteau Oceanis 40 Holding Tank Question
It is the vent. The vent runs down to almost the waterline there will be a thru hull on the side. The tank is gravity discharge overboard the hose you replaced. The head pumps into the top of the tank. The deck fitting you already know.
