Wink Beneteau 473 vrs 423

Greetings, I am trying to decide whether to buy a Beneteau 473 or 423.
They are 2001 boats. The 423 has about $20k more in extras.
Does anyone have an opinion about either of these boats and the sailing characteristics and having more room. It would be just my wife and I and we would be mainly in the Caribbean doing coastal cruising. Occasionally we will have another couple with us. I have been out of sailing for about 10 years now and now want to have a cruising lifestyle. I live in Panama. I am going to make a purchase within the next 2 months. We will be spending sometimes up to 3 months on the boat. Both boats are priced very well and are in good condition.

Any thoughts for me regarding these 2 boats.. Thanks for your response James

We ahve been on both... and want both!!!!!!

If one is a 2 cabin version go for it.

The 2 cabin 473 has a WALK IN lazarett!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its huge!

The 423 was shuffeld out of the range far to early! What a great boat!

But the 473 is bigger. Get a late model 473 2 cabin version

It is the 3 cabin model but I think the 3rd one would be great for storage. The price on the 473 is phenomenal.. never chartered Engine hours about 1500 and genset 1200. What do you think about those hours? How is your cruising doing down under. Stay safe and keep in touch. I need to add a wind power generator or solar or both. I used to have a boat in New Zealand. It was not too convenient because I lived in West coast USA. I love New Zealand but I have never been to Australia. Best sailing James and Lily The sea is calling us.

This is a 2002. I can not afford a late model 2005. Is that 2002 late model enough? I think so. Best to you both James and Lily

2002 is fine. It will stiull look brand new if well kept.
1,500 hours is fine, its just new...
3 cabin is fine. make some shelves in there etc

Cruising here is good but we can't wait to go back overseas. Cruising in ones own country aint the same as somewhere forign!

All the best

Mark
