Benetau 473 - Good Cruiser?

My parents are buying a 2004 Beneteau 473. They are relaxed cruisers that mostly voyage around New Zealand. They are looking at sailing up to French Polynsesia next year. Would this boat be good for this?

Thanks, SBNZ

Talking Too Good...

A 2004 Beneteau 473 is way too good for that purpose.
They should get a scruffy beat up boat and leave the Beneteau with their kids.

My boat partner's parents are talking about buying a boat for when the kids come in the summers in New York...

I told them to buy the boat, leave it here where we could take care of it for them and I'd pay thier airfare out for summers every year.

No joy ;-(

The former owner of our First 42 bought a 473 following our purchase of his boat in 2002. We've stayed in touch and he reports that he sincerely regrets having traded up. The boat is lovely and quit sturdy but evidently rolls it's guts out in a seaway.

FWIW...

They can also buy a 423 Beneteau, big enough.
