I'm in love with this boat from the safe distance of my arm chair.

What do you guys think of this boat, or Bavarias in general?

I see a lot of innovations in interior design compared to the Bavaria 1130 I recently looked at, but most look cheap and prone to breakage in my opinion, i.e tabs on lockers, roller reefing halyard easily frayed on stanchions, swim platform looks like easy invitation for helmsman to hit the drink at an inopportune moment. But I guess ok from armchair!

Do you think the newer design suffers build quality as a result looking nicer?

It's possible that this particular boat is a prototype. Don't quote me on that.

Not a bad boat Bavs , sailed a few. Interior can look a bit IKEA,( ie 22mm kitchen system ) but strong and durable enough in my experience. They tend to put in a fair number of extra hard points which facilitates future additions ( spinnaker winches etc )

Absolutely! They lost initial quality when they started to mass produce. Just look at who they chose for aesthetics in their new lines, The BMW Designworks USA. Personally I would prefer an older BMW any day over a newer version. Of course just my opinion.
Just look at the numbers they quote themselves. "Over 3,500 new boats delivered each year." They only built 21 Bavaria 1130 models in comparison.

If your planning on leaving the armchair... the Bendi 331's a better boat...

Its quite a nice boat for weekends or the islands , not for sailing more than a few hundreds miles from shore , nice the swiming platform, Bavaria quality....

Not that I'm aware of... having owned a Bendi 331 and had the owners of a Bavaria 33 come aboard and kick themselves...

Yes also many rowing dingys cross the atlantic, the point is that boat is not designed to cross oceans, one example is the cockpit sliding doors, dont know how many gallons of water can carry in the tanks same for fuel.

I agree with Crimea, the post mass production in Bavaria quite a diference , i sail in a small one few years agoo , a old model, very robust boat , but yes you are right this days everyone can make a RTW in boats like that..With a bit of luck and nice weather, no problems...
