I plan to clean her up in the next few weeks. I haven't decided whether to re-sell her or finish her myself.

More to come!!!!!!!
Photos!!! I'd love to see both inside and outside if you get the chance.

That's interesting, as it contradicts some other information.

(see HIN wiki here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hull_number)

What you are reading as a leading '2' will be a 'Z', that bit is easy.

Looking at the rest I would ordinarily read this as being hull #12, moulded June 1979, i.e. 06 79.

However I see in the records that hull 12 is showing a boat name 'Waba':

Waba #12 1979 0679/1980, i.e. completed & launched in 1980.

Furthermore I have an owners name and that they paid Corbin Association dues and they lived in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. I have the name (but not an email address). I'd rather not put the name here as it is public, and not likely relevant. The point is that hull #12 was apparently completed and launched and named which seems very different than the hull you have obtained, even though the moulding month/year is the same.

So maybe the Waba folks misread their hull number; or maybe you are misreading yours; or maybe the yard stamped a duplicate.

Are you quite sure it is a 12 ?

Any other ideas ?

regards, pp

Most interesting, thanks.

It is not the only duplicate in the list I have been pulling together slowly. #9 shows twice, so it may be that in the early days in the yard they were a tad laxer than later on.

I will insert you in the list. Drop me a PM if you want me to insert email and other stuff - your name, boat name, etc. Good luck in the build. I am doing a refit, which in a way is not that different.

Anyway if anybody else out there has a Corbin, please drop me a line with your details, ideally including Hull Identification Number (HIN) off the stern and I'll try and keep my listing up to date.

regards, pp

I don't suppose you could post some photos, perhaps here or on the Corbin 39 Facebook page run by Ken Lund

You say it is centre cockpit. Is this a cutter rigged version ? We are wondering if this was perhaps LaLa of Chicago ?

Here are some pictures of my Corbin. As you can see, she has never been finished or launched.

What an awesome project boat! I'm really glad you took the chance and purchased it.. this is a worthy boat for the time and money it will take to finish.

Keep us updated.

Re: Barn Find Corbin 39

Curious if you can say what it cost?
And, how much do you estimate it will cost to finish?
I am looking at project Corbins myself.
Thx.

Thank you fourseasons. As you say she certainly hasn't seen water. She is definitely a mk1 centre cockpit. Would you be so kind as to post a picture of the HIN stamp on the stern.

We hope to go live on the new Corbin 39 Association website within a week, and I will do my best to put her pictures up from the get-go. For now I have put her as being #012.2 as there are two boats claiming to be number #12.

regards, David
