Bareboat-Charter Rough Equivalent of Bavaria 38 ?

I give up!

If you had a Bavaria 38 at home and wanted to charter something roughly equivalent where you're buying a holiday flat, which manufacturers would fall under acceptable "rough equivalent" status?

Putting this in the fun and games section, so you can feel free to poke fun at the ignorance of this question. Prior to this week, I'd have presumed that Hallberg-Rassy would be a step up, but now I really know nothing. Seufz!

You'll find plenty of bavarias in charter fleets no need to find an " equivalent"

Thanks Dave.

Given that I'm only beginning to learn, though, bear with me and maybe play along with this as a learning exercise ...

Hi

I think if you look at any of the charter fleets they all have a range of boats that are more or less, comparable in most ways: They are all comfortable cruisers, good accommodation, maximized services such as hot water, showers, heads etc whilst keeping them simple for maintenance.

There are price differences and different people prefer or can afford different build quality, they notice different things that send them off somewhere else.

So if you look at a website site for Sunsail, Moorings, Kirracoulis you will see the full range of boats comparable with a Bavaria 38.

By the way, the charter fleets are looking towards larger boats so a 38 may not be as well represented as a few years ago.

a) around that size (plus / minus a couple of feet)
b) Beneteau / Jeanneau spring to mind. and Bavaria

Will all be pretty much of a muchness - kinda like swapping from a mid size(European) Ford to a Toyota. Things might be in different places, but essentially the same.

If you can find his Bavaria year (and any model name) could do some Googles on what he has and then on some Charter Companies (Sunsail / Moorings) and see what models they have listed in that size.

"You must spread some Thanks around before giving it to MarkJ again."

So I'll say it here.

He's said LOA 32 - 36 is acceptable, and based on a few comments he's made, he's hoping grandchildren will join him. Sounds like he'll be more or less single-handing on short trips along Turkish coast and to Greek Islands.
