Baltic 38DP - Day Finally Approaches

After 10 months of waiting (I bought this boat last October), she's finally gone into the water yesterday, and we should be sailing tomorrow once the freshly painted mast is on.

Exciting times - I have never sailed this boat and my experience is limited to a week's Day Skipper course.... at least on yachts, lots of experience on dinghies. Bit nervous but we should be fine.

I must say my own design is creating quite a stir in the marina and it is the first boat in the Netherlands to be done completely in DuPont Marine paints. They look spectacular, it has to be said.

We'll be doing lots of sailing the next coming weeks in Holland but it is a great shame that most of the season is gone now, especially since I'm enjoying a sabbatical at the moment. At least the weather is pretty good for the next week.

I do hope to sail her over to Jersey, where I live since 18 months, before the end of the season. It is a spectacular sailing area off the coast of Normandy and Brittany, and I am very much looking forward to exploring that area by boat.

For those who are wondering - the name is Latin and means "Salty" or "Witty".

It's going to be an interesting few weeks as my brother and I discover this boat - I have no idea where everything is!

We sailed her for the first time today. It was just fantastic. Still early days, lots to learn but my boy it was wonderful.

My first proper posting on the site since joining up so hi everyone, I have been watching the threads and have learnt lots on the theoretical side. I still have to do the practical side when I finally get a boat. It was suggested by another member on the site to wait now until early next year to save on grass growing on it and gull crap covering it. I have a lot to learn since I also have had many years in sailing dinghies (International Finn being one of them) never did reach Olympic standards like Ben Ainsle though lol.
I had to post up to congratulate "JazzyO" on a beautiful looking boat and I am sure you will have hours of fun learning to master it. Good luck and keep us posted on your exploits.
PS I am in the Southampton Water/Port area "UK" with those useful four tides a day. My pic is taken from the Netley side looking across to the Esso Refinery.
