I have been researching on line the Balboa 26. Found some info. Would sail on lakes here in Idaho and maybe an occassional to Puget Sound/San Juans.

Any experience with would be appreciated.

Own its daughter

We bought a Windrose 26 back in 1986 and still have her in Colorado. Great boat! We've put her thru all her paces and she still comes back for more. Been out in 40+knot winds with a storm sail and reefed main. Did 6.5 knots and took off.
After we bought her, we did some upgrading. Added pressurized water, ran 110 lines so I could use a portable generator. Microwave and even put in a propane fireplace. Stuck on a solar to keep the batteries up to snuff.
Are you looking for one or already own one? Mines for sale in Colorado. As much as I love her, i've bought a bigger boat--finally retired.

another

I found another one with a diesel and saildrive. I am interested in Idaho Lakes and some cruising in the San Juans and inside passage Vancouver Island.

The one without diesel guy will take $3500. Diesel version asking $4900.

Deal or no Deal

My brother had one, sailed on it often, his was a swing keel and had a soft spot just forward of the keel trunk on the under side. said it was normal for the boat because of the weight of the keel. I hear thats the one concern on the boat,
If you like, I'll put you in touch with him and you can talk to him yourself..
other than the soft spot, the boat was great, sailed it often and loved the way it handled.

I sold them in the mid seventies. They were middle range of boats from Bangor-Punta, and you would occasionally find a Friday boat. Those have probably been culled from the herd by now. I can't imagine you will find as much trailerable bang for your buck anywhere, especially if you discover one thats been continuously maintained. They are somewhat tender, and you must be sure to lock the board down religiously, and reef early; its not a boat to have to go forward on in deteriorating conditions.
