Australian licenced Cavalier Yachts... any thoughts

hi, I noticed an old Cavalier 7seas 39' boat from 86 here in Australia. What is their quality like and who built them for how long?

Cavalier is/was a Kiwi company. Believe they made a 39' boat. Supposedly a solidly built boat from what I've heard.

yes, but after 20% tax in the 70' they shut down, were taken over by export yachts ... I wrote in wiki, and sometime a license was sold to Australia, and the 7seas was built there.
a new ship builder, no experiences maybe

Re: Australian licenced Cavalier Yachts... any thoughts

Well I own an Australian built 1984 Cavalier 975 (32 feet), and have the brochure and price list from the original purchaser. So in Australia at least they were still in production then. As far as I know the 39 continued to be built by them for some time, and I thought the hull design (and moulds??) was passed to Bluewater Cruising Yachts, a boat builder on Lake Macquarie (although the previous thread here suggests otherwise).

Cavalier 39 Technical Information

All the Cavaliers have a great reputation for being sturdy and well mannered boats.

For the record, here is a good article about the history with review of the 32 footer.
