That's what I did. I built a stand up cockpit with removable seats. This arch cost US$6500. But I'm mounting everything to it, traveller, radar, antennas, outboard mount, life rings and even has a boom that swings out to pick up the OB. I could mount the dinghy if the wind vane wasn't in the way, but I could add that too.

The picture is just after it was mounted on the boat. It only has the traveller and a flag mount. I've built a self leveling radar mount but have no radar to install yet.
The solar panels will extend off the back and there were 5 pads welded on top for antennas.

To the OP, the arch in your picture would need some cross members for anything heavier then solar panels OMHO.

The Hammock hanger upper is the best idea for arch Ive ever seen !! Any time ya can hang a hammock for and aft in a sea way ya got it made!! If it's warm enough I can sleep better in a hammock in a sea way then anywhere on board !! Ahh us old guys are so easy pleased ! LOL

Hi all,

Yes, I did end up buying and installing the arch in a box from Atlantic Towers. It is a high quality product that is easy to install (even easier if you have a friend to help, which I did not). I also ordered the davit kit with the beefier schedule 80 pipes. I have made my own solar brackets, but they are not installed yet. I will send a few pics of the installed arch and davits.

BTW, I have no commercial interest in this company, just like the product.

Standard Beneteau arch (for a 423 but fits a 393). Heavy duty stainless, under $2000, including installation in 2004. Generator pole was extra.

Looking at this arch also, when you say beefier schedule 80 pipes do you mean just the davit extensions or the whole arch is made with the bigger tubes?

Just the davit extensions. BTW, I just sailed about 1200NM with my RIB hanging on those davits with no issues at all . There was some flex side to side in rolley seas, but never any problems. Theses arches rock!

Rock(ing) is right. I'd be keeping an eye on those bases to see if cracks have started in the welds. SS doesn't like being worked back and forth.

Bought it in the street market at Marigot... along with some cheesecloth shirts.. nice French lady had a stall there..

To help avoid side to side flexing, I added two diagonal lines anytime the boat might be heeled over. One line from the transom of the dinghy to the opposite side deck cleat, and the dinghy bow line tightly secured to the opposite deck cleat.

I called Atlantic today(12-27) and asked if I could get the heavier (schedule 80) tubing for the whole thing. That is not an option anymore. The outboard hoist is made of the heavier schedule 80' but the main frame is not. The salesman told me that it was rated at 300 lbs. That does not leave much for the motor, since I really would like to park my carcass in a hammock. Sad to think I may have to choose between myself and a stupid motor. But wait, if I deep six the motor and have the wife row the dinghy,problem solved,right?
