Reverse transom.
Advantages: more waterline; built-in swim platform
Disadvantages: slap, slap, slap; complicates certain installations such as self-steering; complicates backing into a slip.

Canoe transom.
Advantages: better in following seas; superior motion comfort (no slapping)
Disadvantages: shorter waterline; saps some space in the after end.
