Re: Are Double-Enders the Sexiest Monohull Design ?
OK I get it. Sexy?, why of course a double ender is sexy, that is, of course, if you subscribe to the concept that symetrical is more visually appealing than asymetrical (34X24X36 verses 34X24X48). Space? always an issue on land or at sea (why do you think they make mini storages). Seaworthy? I seem to recall double enders sailing the world since, hmmm, 5000 BC. Maybe the ancients had a clue afterall.

High tech and fast as hell is sexy. Old fashioned is nice to look at. Sorta like Rosie Huntington-Whitely vs Liz Taylor.

Love this thread, and other opinion polls like it. Provides revalidation that opinions are like a certain part of the animal anatomy in that everyone has one. . Apart from fun and relaxation, which I guess are the main purposes... the point of the thread is??? Oh, I forgot about my tail pipe --- true double enders in the Colin Archer style are for me And I like greens and blues --- none of that nasty red and orange. And while we're at it, how about Hefeweizen?

There are only two types of people in this world. Those who have double-enders, and those who wish they did.

When it comes to subjective matters of taste, people have wildly different opinions; which cannot be objectively resolved.

Now that this thread has been revised, I'll give my opinion and say that the Cherubini 44 has about the pretty stern I've come across in awhile (wife not counted..disclaimer!) My Tartan 37 has a pretty counter stern, but the Cherubini...man...that's what a butt should look like!

Double enders are only sexy and wonderful if you are intelligent, knowledgeable, handsome, and sexy yourself. Other folk don't like them. [But I sure do like the way double enders sail.]

Nail hit on head! Objectively resolved??? Hell, they can't be resolved any other way either. And people die for subjective matters. Think I'll go below, but you have to admit, it's a fun thread in a love 'em - hate 'em sense....

Re: Are Double-Enders the Sexiest Monohull Design ?
Just had the most disgusting, revolting, politically-incorrect thought in months: there are a lot of double enders cruising Wal*Mart these days --- can't tell stem from stern . And if the Forum Moderators want to remove this, I'll understand, and won't be offended.

I didn't realize that the sugar scoop was a performance enhancement, I always thought it was so old people could board easily. All kidding aside, they are practical and some day I'll probably own one but I'm still pretty nimble so it'll be a while.
Most of the canoe stern cruising boats don't do it for me. If I had to vote for looks I'd go for this:

Re: Are Double-Enders the Sexiest Monohull Design ?
saw a movie awhile back when I was a kid,
it was about Noah and his ark,
in the movie, his ark was either a double ender or a canoe stern,
she was quite long, had a real tiny rig and probability didn't look that sex'y to most.
I wounder what his preference would be nowdays?

Too much Walt Disney
The Ark needed no performance related features, such as a cut-water stem.
It certainly didn't need a rig because--the World was being destroyed as Noah knew it. No next "port of call" known.
The first recorded case of "run aground"
