Very nice swedish style cruiser, similar to Najad. (I think they are 'sister yards'). Center cockpit, windscreen like HR, reputed to be slow (hearsay only). We considered one before buying a Bowman 40 for its superior sailing qualities. Great timber work inside.

I am buying an Aphrodite, I hope that is not too slow!
I though about the Bowman as well but was too expensive, great boat .

Did you buy you Aphrodite in the end? And if so could you please post a bit of information about how you're getting on with it? And if the rumours about sailability and speed are true?

I am looking at the 39' A40, but struggling to find much information about them.

Yes I have the Aphrodite 42.

I sailed from Amsterdam to Ravenna in the Adriatic sea.
After 3500 miles I can say tha the boat has a strong hull, very nice cockpit, easy sailing, good interiors.

Upwind with waves she is not fast, but I think that many boats have the same problem.
When you sail upwind about 60° you reach 6 6,50 kn.

With the wind from 90° to 120° easy 7,5 to 9, downwind in the Atlantic with waves and 28 knts of real wind we reach over 11 knts.

The boat is very stable sailing, smooth with the waves, the helm is a bit hard, but if you get use you do not need so many corrections.

She do not like to have much power on the mainsail.

Fast with light wind.

Is not modern but is a secure boat made for long trips with no stress.
