Anyone sail on a Deerfoot sailboat?

I got to see a 74ft version of it here in Bradenton, Fla. Looks pretty nice.
I read where they make some other versions I think 65ft or something
in that range?
Wonder how they sail?
Im looking for something in the 50 to 60ft range. I found a few Gulfstars
sailmasters. Thinking of wanting a pilot house of some sort, get out of the
weather when it turns bad. I don't want to sit out in wet gear. NO FUN!
Any boat ideas of this type that sail good and have room.

We had a 62ft Deerfoot in our marina in Ca. I was sailing down wind coming into the marina. The Deerfoot was coming out, and was sailing close & SWEET to the wind closehauled. Later got a tour of the boat. It was elegant, and simple down below.....i2f

Both size Deerfoots (Deerfeet????) are considered to be terriffic cruising boats. Designed by the Dashews for long term cruising by a couple. Fast, rugged, well laid out and ... pricey! Because they are relatively narrow they don't have as much room as most other modern boats in their size, but they'll sail circles around most of the competition ... and do so in comfort.
There are lots of great live-aboards in your size range ... too many to mention here.

The shallow draft and narrow beam of the Deerfeets make them a bit "windwardly challenged" compared to boats of a similar size, but downwind or reaching, they have long legs. They were all pretty much custom built, so you might not be able to compare one to another. The Sundeer were the later iteration and probably a bit faster.

Here's an owner's thoughts on the boat's performance. Note how they get to windward:

Re: Anyone sail on a Deerfoot sailboat?

So this is an old thread, but yes, 10 of thousands of miles. And nothing else I have sailed in 35 years as a professional sailor has come close for blue water. Fast, safe, comfortable at sea and in Port, and fast. We planned on 200nm per day and always beat that. Any one who has sailed a Dashew hull wonders why they are not copied more often. A race boat, a swan , a Baltic will sail closer to the wind but on a passage Crack off just a little and it's good bye to the fleet. We ran neck and neck with 80ft maxis on the race course off the wind.
