Anchorage in Bermuda

Hey all, Does anyone know where i can find info on free anchorages in Bermuda or a mooring field would be great help thanks.

St Geoge's is where customs is and there large areas for anchoring there across the harbor. There are some moorings both private and some just outside the Customs dock. You can also dock at the Dinghy Club or along the old cruise ship dock.

Most people anchor in St. George's. The customs guys will tell you `where you can drop anchor after you check in. You can also rent mooring balls as well if you want to.

You probably wont find much written about anchoring in Bermuda because, except for the commercial channels and the private yacht clubs, you can anchor just about anywhere you feel safe to do so.
There are no controlled mooring fields of a type you would be familiar with, and its basically put the hook down and relax...
All of Castle Harbour, western end of Ferry Reach, east, south and west sides of St Georges harbour, the entire shoreline of the Little and Great Sound are at your disposal, as are all the islands area at the approach to Hamilton Harbour.
We are pretty laid back about this in Bermuda.

St. George's Harbour is where you enter and clear customs, and there is lots of room to anchor in various places there. Just south of the main harbor is Smiths Sound which can be nice to get away from it all, especially if there is a big blow. Can be shallow in certain areas so check the charts. If you have time it is fun to cruise over to Hamilton too, and some of the anchorages amongst the little islands nearby are reminiscent of Maine.
