An Extended Journey on a Venture 21

I'm thinking about planning a trip from Ft Lauderdale to the Keys and back while taking some time to sail around the Keys. It would be about a two to three week trip. Im thinking about taking my Venture 21. I realize it would be tough as far as the living would go and small living quarters. But do you guys have any other thoughts on this trip?

Thank you.

Hmm, I have a V-21 and wouldn't sail farther than I could in a day on it myself. Nice little daysailor but definitely not a pocket cruiser. I've had mine out in 15-25 and 6' waves with a four man crew and she did ok. I would hesitate to sail her in those conditions single handed because there are no reef points and it'd be tough without the extra ballast.

Personally, I’d trailer the V21, and launch in situ.
As you note, she hasn’t much accommodation space.
Otherwise, sounds fun! Wish I could join you.

I singlehanded my Mc Gregor Venture Newport 23 from Philadelphia, PA to Sea Isle, NJ. Ran into a bad thunderstorm in the Delaware Bay. The boat made more progress up and down than forwards. I threw out my oversized anchor and went to sleep. The trip took 3 1/2 days and I had a ball. One day I spent sailing back and forth from NJ to Delaware. My wife thought she was a widow due to severity of the thunderstorm. Only damages was to the wiring passing thru the deck to the mast plug for the anchor light. The plug shorted out during the storm and melted the wires and the electrical fitting. If I were to make the intended sailing trip, I would schedule around great weather but have a plan on where to seek shelter incase of a wicked storm. Best of luck on your adventure.
