Ann, unfortunately our boat has already been painted once. Hence it now requires rejuvenation and, due to some changes to the rub rail, realignment of the transition line from red to white.

Might help if you hung tarps or sheet plastic around and a couple of feet away from the boat.

Yep, bugs etc will be a pain, but we are not after some kind of showroom finish. I was just curious about the technique as you mentioned it was roll only without tipping. I shall download the e book and see if it will help us.

I have just finished repainting the hulls of my catamaran.For this project I used Resene Uracryl 400 series of paint.I used a mohair roller, those small 125mm ones? It worked great and in my opinion is probably better than the Altex brand as far as rolling an tipping goes.To be honest I just went over the bubbles in the wet paint with an unloaded roller after a couple of minutes and this got rid of most bubbles.I prefer not using a brush for tipping most of the time as this can leave striations in the paint. I did the job outside and was caught out with a rainshower wihich has left a few lighter water marks that i will have to redo.Remember to add a bit more thinners for the final coat as this brings out the shine.
