A35 FOR SALE

Hey Alberg 35 fans! I have trusted my family's lives to this boat now for 5 years, taking her offshore from the Chesapeake to the Bahamas, Turks & Caicos, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and now Virgin Islands. In big seas she does just fine, handling gets substantially easier after reefing down the main. I wouldn't be taking my 2-yr-old daughter out here in just any boat, I also have seen first-hand how tough the 1.5" thick hull is, and repairs are easy as others have mentioned.

Space aboard was plenty for the two of us before we had kids, now it is somewhat cramped with a toddler, as you might well imagine! But people are doing this with kids on smaller boats than ours, we just met some today on a 32 footer...

About the hull#, mine is on a metal plate in the cockpit well. About repowering with a diesel - the atomic4 in mine was replaced with a Yanmar 3GM30F and it is a perfect size, with room for proper mounts.

So that said, we are finally moving back to land after an awesome experience cruising this boat, and our Alberg 35 "Ventana" is now up FOR SALE if anyone is interested... heavily equipped for cruising, including watermaker, check out our ad on Virgin Islands Craigslist, search for "Alberg 35" or PM me for details.
Cheers,
-Ryan

Re: Alberg 35

Pearson opened a West Coast Manufacturing facility in the '60s. Apparently it didn't work out as they closed it down. One of the molds they had was the Alberg 35. When they closed the factory they paid a company to destroy the molds and trash them. Strangely, Ericson yachts was born just after Pearson shut their plant. Their first boat was the Ericson 35 Mark 1 whose hull had an uncanny resemblance to the Pearson Alberg 35. Rumor has it they bribed the people responsible for trashing the A35 mold to look the other way while they spirited the mold away. Have it on good authority that this happened from a guy who got a hull for doing work on the deck mold.

Re: Alberg 35

The Alberg that I mentioned on the Hawaii Craigslist has gone from 10,000 to 8,000 to 6,000$ in only a few weeks. The pictures make it look pretty tired, but it has mast steps and I think an anchor windlass, so it probably has a fair amount of cruising gear. It is listed as a Pearson 35. Someone will get a great project boat.____Grant.

I know I am singing to the choir here...but we love our 1965 A/35. There is lots of info about the Alberg 35 on the Alberg 35 owners web site...check it out.

Re: Alberg 35

Pete, if I could swing it I would be on a plane to Hawaii right now, but according to my realestate agent I must be sailing already since everything that I own is underwater. Being a techno dinosaur I couldnt return your PM so Ill take a rain check on the beer and give my love to Faye.____Grant.
