My wife and I are within a year of
purchasing a
cruising sailboat after about a year of
research and figuring how we will actually use the
boat. We both have good experience cruising (blue
water and coastal cruising) but it has been a while since either of us spent any significant time on the
water.
We live on the Narragansett and want a
boat we can sail the bay, trips to Block Island and
Martha's Vineyard for the first couple of years, then plan to take it south to
Florida or the Bahama's but will not likely go as far as the
Caribbean in about 6 years or so. Also a couple of summers on Lake Champlain are in the plans too.
We have looked at nearly all of the Beneteaus, Hunters, Catalinas and Jeanneaus in the 40 to 48 foot range (both new and used).
Of all the boat we looked at the
Beneteau 461seems to be the best fit. Size, features and
price point.
Would be interested in hearing from anyone with experience with the 461 to help me know what to look for and what to avoid in the 461.
Thanks
