Adams Naut 40

Hi all,
Having just recently sold our ferro Wilf O'Kell, we are looking for another yacht. I saw an Adams Naut 40 for sale her in Oz and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with them. With a family of four and the kids only getting bigger, we love the 3 cabin layout in the Beneteaus, Jeanneaus etc, and then came across the Adams.
Any thoughts or opinions are most welcome.
Thanks all, Luke

Re: Adams Naut 40

A newly recruited CFer, Sapient Sue and her mate Mike have cruised and lived aboard their Naut 40 for many years and miles. A PM to her would doubtless get you any info you might need, for they are competent and experienced sailor/cruisers... and generous folks as well.

The Naut is the biggest 40 foot boat I've ever been aboard I think!

Good luck

Jim

Flush deck, large volume, masthead sloop, large hard dodger, somewhat similar to Catalpa?

Just looking online at one it has a good looking layout for a family and amazing amounts of storage !! Personally I would have thought some ports and extra light would be good but it does have heaps of hatches.

Hi Catalpa,
Please note my observations are from an ignoramus, in fact I started to write a reply just to ask people to give more feedback on aussie boats, you see so much more info on US boats… and then failed to make that request...
Cheers
Shane

Re: Adams Naut 40

Thanks all, I'll send a message to sue and see what they think. We aren't set on anything yet, and while the wife likes the look of the Benes and such, I personally would like something a little stronger considering our ultimate goal entails a Pacific cruise.

One thing we would love to have though is something with a 3 cabin layout, which unless we decide on a production boat, there doesn't seem to be too much around in the 40-45ft range.

Good thing is we are in no great hurry, and even looking at potential new to us yachts is great fun.

First time living on land for 6 years will be interesting though...

Hi Luke

By now you should have my personal reply but for all others out there interested in a 3 cabin 40fter - ours was advertised as a 40fter with the space of a 45fter and as our home for 18 years and 80,000 nms under our belts and 125,000 under the boat's keel - I would say she is a proven hull.

Sue.

Hi Sue, for whatever reason, I haven't received your message, however the fact you've had yours for so long does prove that they are very capable cruising yachts.
I did manage to find a bit of information on them, the broker must have got his act together and decided to post some more info up.
