A love affair...

I have a love affair with two boats that are complete opposites and that I will never own. The first one I saw when I was a teen in Bermuda, Ticonderoga a Herreshoff design, classic wooden timeless. The other one is new to me and quite the opposite, modern, sleek and aluminum I think. Shogun is a Bill Dixon design and she comes and anchors outside my kitchen window for me to admire every once and a while. I think they both are fine designs in their own right and if someone would like to give them to me well....

Here is Shogun:

Shogun – Holland Jachtbouw

Typical of the stuff Bill is designing these days. Not my cup of tea, really.

I am berthed near another custom design of his: Craftsman's Art. A very quirky and interesting design from the early '90's. Schooner rig. Twin screws. And get this -- a wooden hull, mahogany, encased in epoxy. Was my next-door neighbor my first winter in Cowes some years ago.

Isn't it easy to make a 120' boat look sleek?

Re: A love affair...

That's where that "dreamboat" description comes from. Ticonderoga is a beauty.
