I agree, the closer to home the better. There's nothing like having the boat close by for getting projects done quickly and thoroughly.

I live in a perfect world. My home (with river rock for lawn!) has a salt water dock with the boat about 50 feet away from the front door. The tri in the foreground is mine. I was able to haul out in my yard with a crane, and I converted the original shipping cradle to a tide grid.
