One would have to be very insecure to feel inadequate around a 1961 Alberg 30 or a 1975 Catalina 30 or a 1966 Arpege 30 or a 1959 Pearson Triton.

Or a Hunter 410.

Mark, I doubt if you will find many of those marques in the Hamilton Island marina just now. Between the mega yachts and the gathering throng for the Hammo island race week, there will be sources of inadequacy aplenty!

That is, if such things affect you thusly!

Cheers,

Jim

Sorry, I thought you guys were referring to boats on the OP list - I don't speak OZ!

Seriously! Hard to believe that not a single Perini Navi boat made Cruising World's list.

Re: 40 Best Sailboats

This looks like a list of Cruising World advertisers, and nothing more.

Very typical of their crap publication.

Oh, come on Dave... that's just not true.

And if it was, so what? Doesn't seem to change the quality of the boat, just the number of folks who could enjoy it.

But I still think it is a silly concept and poorly executed at that.

Did you even look at the list??? 22 of the builders have been out of business for decades. Almost all of the boats from the remaining builders ceased production years ago, if not decades ago.

Not to mention, of those companies, several of them have gone out of business at least once and the name was resurrected years later by a completely different company.

The boats on the list that do match your criticism number in the 2's.

Re: 40 Best Sailboats

Why pick the Tartan 34 and not the better Tartan 37? No offense to all the 34s out there
I know it was a loosely structured vote, who voted? It wasn't cursing world folks right? It was an online vote thing?

Re: 40 Best Sailboats

You know, I must say that as a multihull owner used to the mono owners running down boats in the multihull threads, it has been a big bowl of popcorn to me watching you guys throw each other under the bus here.

And I find myself in the odd position of defense even in a mono thread!

Is nowhere safe?

Same reason they picked the PS 37 and not the PS 34, I guess - one paved the way for the other.
